***NOTE: I listed this apartment six weeks ago and received many replies. Please don't hesitate to inquire again - my listing was pulled down either due to my inactivity for several weeks (work travel) or because of objections from my landlord. I was not able to review or reply to previous responders before my account was terminated. Apologies. I will be monitoring replies more punctiliously this time.
Tenement building one-bedroom, in the heart of the East Village, available for October 1st. This is a legal sublet for ONE YEAR duration (second year possible, but not longer). Sub-tenant will pay rent directly to my landlord and must pass a credit check for acceptance. This creates a slightly tricky situation, as I must submit potential sub-tenants application and then allow my landlord up to 30 days to respond.
Ideally, I will show the apartment on Sunday, August 24 to interested parties and proceed in the days immediately following to sublease submission.
The apartment building is prewar(s) and spare. My unit has not been remodeled in decades, so please don't expect slick modernism. The apartment is 500 square feet, divided into large kitchen, living room, and bedroom with attached dressing room. These rooms can put to different uses as desired; I have certainly re-arranged their roles many times. Floors are wood and somewhat uneven, the windows have metallic security gates, noise from the back courtyard does at times penetrate. All of this contributes to the classic EV vibe. But don't worry, the bathtub is not in the middle of the kitchen: there's an actual bathroom.
Apartment is available furnished or unfurnished (one or two pieces may have to remain regardless).
Preference is given to single applicants who are employed and whose credit is in good standing.
Apartment is in the heart of the east village, minutes away from a Trader Joe's, a movie theater, and all of the night life you could ever imbibe.
I will be moving quickly to forward an applicant to my landlord so I would advise not delaying a reply. Tell me briefly what you do, when you are looking to move, and if you can operate with the 30 day application response uncertainty.
Thanks
